Eric leads Fixed Networks strategic marketing in Nokia. His role is focusing on consultative and best practices sharing, helping carrier & network operators in many regions to leverage on successful business models, go to market tactics and deployment strategies, suitable for their broadband market. His consultative workshops are targeted to C-level engagements, including but not limited to Marketing & Strategy teams within the carrier & network operators.

Prior to this role, joining (then) Alcatel-Lucent, Eric has held various roles in networks business & strategy, business development, product solutions management & marketing, as well as in the strategic & consultative marketing when he had the privilege of working with some of the largest carrier & network operators around the world.  

Between 2008 and 2016, Eric represented Nokia at the FTTH Council Europe, acting for 4 years as board member. He was elected again as Board Member in May 2019

Eric is based in Belgium. Now, he is dividing his time between his family of four and helping to fly the Nokia flag across all kinds of strategic customer engagements across the globe.

Steffen Leiwesmeier joined the Board of Directors of the FTTH Council Europe in May 2020, currently as Head of Financing Digital Infrastructure and leading a dedicated team in Fiber Financing.Vast experience in project financing with more than 55 infrastructure transactions successfully closed in Europe. Strong focus on financing in the field of digital infrastructure focusing on fiber projects with an in-depth understanding of the several country perspectives and regulatory frame works.  First project finance schemes for fiber in Germany, Austria, UK, Portugal and Spain. Enabling financing for SMEs and supporting their growing case. Setting the market standard for fiber financing. Active part in working groups with the relevant Federal Office for Infrastructure (BMVI), the regulator (BNetzA) and German developing banks (KfW, NRW Bank, Rentenbank) in structuring subsidized loan programs, tailor made for SME’s

Su is Senior Marketing Director, EMEA at CommScope. In this role, she leads a team responsible for the delivery of regional marketing campaigns, events, channel marketing and account-based marketing programs across the service provider and enterprise markets. Prior to this, she led international marketing and global event teams at ARRIS (acquired by CommScope in 2019) and the Motorola Home division (acquired by ARRIS in 2013). Previous experience over her 25 year marketing career includes management roles at ntl: (now Virgin Media) and O2 (now Telefonica).

Su was an inaugural Board Member of the ARRIS Women´s Business Network, formed in 2016, and was instrumental in growing this organization to 1,000+ members strong, the launch of an Ambassador Program, driving regional activity across key member hubs, and establishing a company-wide mentoring program. She subsequently joined the Board of Women in Cable Technology Europe in 2019 in the role of Chief Marketing Officer and is passionate about providing growth, support and networking opportunities for women and young people working in the technology industry.

Su graduated from Leicester’s De Montfort University with a BA (Hons) in Business Studies with a Marketing Specialisation. She relocated to Madrid from the UK in April 2014 and enjoys live music, theatre, and travel. Jan Schindler, is currently Market Intelligence & Business Development (Central Europe) Manager at Prysmian Group- world's leading cable manufacturing company in the energy and telecom cables and systems industry. Jan Schindler was elected as Board Members in May 2020
With over 20 years of professional experience in telecommunications, market research, and business consulting, Mr Schindler has a proven track record of of business achievements and developing successful strategic campaigns for leading technology companies. These include Prysmian Group, Draka Communications, SSA Global Technologies, and the Baan Company.
Mr. Schindler contributed to FTTH Council Europe as Chairman of its Market Intelligence Committee from 2008- April 2018 and was elected Board Member of the FTTH Council MENA in 2015 and reelected in 2019.
Jan holds a MS degree in Business Engineering from the University of Applied Sciences Zittau, Germany, and a Bachelor degree in International Business from Oslo University in Norway

Mike Knott was elected to the Board in May 2018 and relected in May 2020

Mike Knott is a chartered mechanical engineer with 30 years of experience in optical fibre outside plant deployments, and has focused exclusively on FTTH technology since 2007. As FTTH Market Development Manager he is recognised as an expert in this field. Mike interacts with network operators and industry bodies throughout EMEA with a brief to represent and promote Corning’s position in this key business sector.

Mike has previously held a range of roles within Corning such as Product Line Manager, and Technical Manager responsible for the development of optical jointing solutions.

Currently SVP Public Affairs at Deutsche Glasfaser (ownership by EQT & OMERS). From 2000 to 2016 Head of Regulatory and Public Affairs at QSC AG (Germany). Career started in 1997 as Manager Interconnection and later Head of Regulatory Affairs at Talkline GmbH (a TeleDanmark Company).
Board member of ECTA (European Competitive Telecommunications Association) from 2010 to 2015; Treasurer of the association 2013-2015.

Luigi Gambardella was elected to the Board in May 2018 and relected in May 2020

Luigi Gambardella has long and extensive experience as an international leader in the telecoms field, and in all things digital. Currently Head of European Affairs of Open Fiber, the new Italian ultra-broadband network owned by ENEL and Cassa Depositi e Prestiti (CDP). Luigi has for several years stewarded international relations for one of Europe's biggest "telcos", Telecom Italia, and from 2011 to 2014 he has chaired the Executive Board of the European Telecommunications Network Operators' Association (ETNO).
Mr Gambardella's worldwide network of top-level industry decision-makers, governments, regulators and trade organizations is unique, as are his privileged contacts throughout the global financial community and business press.

Eric Joyce was elected Chair of the Market Intelligence Committee in May 2018 and was elected as Board member in May 2019. 

Eric, beginning his Telecoms career in the Irish market, has gained over 18 years of experience in Access Networks from dialup copper technologies through to Next Generation PON FTTH Deployments.  Within ADTRAN, working alongside the Office of the CTO, coupled with his Business Development role in the EMEA region, he champions the latest and emerging products and ideas while providing internal and external education functions in these areas.

Raf started his career at Comsof as a consultant in 1999 after graduating as an engineer in telecommunications. In 2005, Raf became CEO. In this role he was responsible for the research and development of FiberPlanIT (now Comsof Fiber), Comsof's optimisation engine for FTTx network planning. In October 2012, Raf became shareholder and CEO of the Company. Raf was elected as Board Member in May 2020

Chair: Tom Bambury was elected as Chair of the Deployment and Operations Committee in May 2019

Tom is head of the Optical Network Solutions team at Fujikura Europe. Prior to this he has held a number of business development and operations roles at AFL – a wholly owned subsidiary of Fujikura. He has over 20 years experience in the optical communications industry and previously worked at ESB Telecoms in Ireland, as well as Corning and Nortel Networks in the USA. He has been heavily involved in a number of FTTH projects at AFL and Fujikura in recent years.

Committee: This committee discusses all technical aspects of fibre networks. This includes the passive and active part of the network as well as the deployment methods, network architectures and new fibre technologies. The Deployment & Operations Committee has created white papers in the last year on new based technologies and innovations and innovative FTTH deployment technologies. The Committee is also responsible for producing and revising the FTTH Handbook, which was created a few years ago to help network operators understand the options available for fibre access network infrastructure.
