The FTTH Council Europe welcomes the opportunity to comment on the ‘BEREC Public consultation on the draft BEREC Guidelines to foster the consistent application of the criteria for assessing co-investments in new very high capacity network elements (Article 76 EECC)’. Brussels, 29 June 2020 – The FTTH Council Europe is pleased to announce the appointment of Vincent Garnier as its new Director General, effective as of 13 July 2020. Moreover, the Council appoints Su Guaglianone (CommScope) as a new Board Member and Aurélie Bladocha Coelho (FTTH Council Europe) as a new Chair of the Policy & Regulation Committee.

Brussels, 9 June
2020 – During its first virtual General Assembly,
the FTTH Council Europe adopted its work programme and priorities and elected new
Board members and Work Committee Chairs.
The European
Commission has recently presented an ambitious recovery plan for the EU economy
also focusing on green and digital transformations. The past few months have
shown us that connectivity supported by robust and reliable digital
infrastructures plays and will continue to play a crucial role in supporting
the evolution of society and build a more resilient and sustainable economy.
The FTTH Council
Europe is ready to contribute to the discussion with fact-based &
high-quality studies and data and is therefore outlining its upcoming projects.

New Fibre Market Panorama 2020 data presented by FTTH Council Europe reveal:
• Number of homes passed by fibre (FTTH/B) reaches nearly 172 million homes in EU39;
• France, Italy and Spain have the biggest increase in the number of homes passed;
• FTTH/B Coverage in Europe confirms a positive trend to nearly half of total homes;
• 15% growth in the number of fibre subscribers;
• Iceland leads the European FTTH/B league table
