4 November 2018 – Today the world is celebrating Gimme Fibre Day. 4 November is the birthdate of Nobel Prize winner Sir Charles Kuen Kao, who was awarded in 2009 the Nobel Prize in Physics for "ground-breaking achievements concerning the transmission of light in fibres for optical communication”. This year is even more special as Professor Kao passed away last September.
The FTTH Councils’ Global Alliance, chaired by
the FTTH Council Europe would like to jointly pay tribute to Professor Kao who
revolutionised fibre optics.
